Custom Poultry Serology Test Kit (FTA Card)

Once you have purchased the Custom Poultry Serology Test Kit from our site,

1. You will be mailed out FTA papers and equipment for collecting blood, instructions and a submission form.
2. Collect samples as per the included instructions.
3. Mail the form and the samples to the lab address given.
4. Results will be emailed through once received by us.

How to collect blood for a FTA card sample

Each unit purchased = 1 FTA paper card + blood drawing tool.

• 4 sample spots per card (suitable for 4 birds)
• Up to 6 tests per sample (you choose which tests you want to run)
• All testing performed after you return the completed card.

Note: Postage or courier costs for sending your FTA card to the instructed laboratory are not included and will need to be paid by you.

1. Purchase Includes

• One FTA card and a sterile lancet/needle for sample collection.
  
• Instructions for how to correctly collect and apply the sample.
  
• Processing of the test(s) selected at the time of purchase through PBS Laboratory.
  
• A results report emailed to you once laboratory testing is completed.
  

2. Sample Collection

• You are responsible for safely and correctly collecting the blood sample from your bird(s).
  
• Avian Empire is not liable for injury, stress, or harm caused during the sample collection process.
  
• If the sample is collected incorrectly, contaminated, or insufficient for testing, PBS Laboratory may be unable to process it. Additional testing will require the purchase of a new kit.
  

3. Shipping of Samples

• You are responsible for posting or couriering the completed FTA/FTPA card to the laboratory as instructed.
  
• Postage/courier costs are not included in the purchase price.
  
• Avian Empire is not responsible for delays, loss, or damage occurring during shipping.
  

4. Laboratory Processing

• All testing is performed externally by PBS Laboratory, an independent diagnostic facility.
  
• Turnaround times may vary depending on laboratory workload, sample condition, or the type of tests selected.
  
• Avian Empire is not responsible for delays caused by laboratory processing or shipping timelines.
  

5. Test Results

• Results will be emailed to you as soon as they are received from PBS Laboratory.
  
• Results are provided as diagnostic information only and should not be considered a complete health assessment.
  
• Interpretation of results should be undertaken with veterinary guidance where appropriate.
  

6. Limitations

• FTA cards are suitable for serology testing only.
  
• Incorrect handling, contamination, or incomplete drying of the card may affect test accuracy.
  
• Avian Empire is not liable for inaccurate or inconclusive results arising from sample quality or handling.
  

7. Refunds & Replacements

• Due to the biological nature of this product, no refunds can be issued once the kit has been shipped.
  
• Replacement kits may be purchased if the original card is lost, damaged, or inadequately sampled.
  

8. Customer Responsibilities

By purchasing this product, you acknowledge that you are responsible for:

• Correct sample collection
  
• Safe handling of needles/lancets
  
• Proper labelling of the FTA card
  
• Arranging shipping to the laboratory
  
• Providing accurate contact information for results reporting
  

9. Liability

Avian Empire accepts no responsibility for:

• Injury or harm caused during sample collection
  
• Incorrect use of the kit
  
• Postal delays or lost samples
  
• Laboratory errors or delays
  
• Decisions made based on test results without veterinary advice
